Norway beat Côte d'Ivoire 2–1 at Dallas Stadium to reach the World Cup round of 16 for the first time. Antonio Nusa curled in a superb right-footed strike on 39 minutes, substitute Amad Diallo levelled with a solo run and finish on 74 minutes, but Erling Haaland turned in Patrick Berg's cut-back four minutes from time for his fifth goal of the tournament.

Côte d'Ivoire had the better of the territory with 14 shots and five on target to Norway's nine and four, but Ståle Solbakken's side held 53% possession and took their chances. Antonio Nusa was named Superior Player of the Match in front of 69,665 fans.

Norway advance to face Brazil in Houston on Sunday — the Selecao having beaten Japan with a stoppage-time Gabriel Martinelli winner. Côte d'Ivoire are eliminated despite their best-ever World Cup finish, having reached the knockout stage for the first time in their history.
