Egypt and IR Iran drew 1–1 at Seattle Stadium in their Group G finale. Mahmoud Saber fired Egypt ahead inside five minutes with an assist from Trézeguet, but Ramin Rezaeian equalised nine minutes later and Iran had a Mehdi Taremi penalty saved as the first half ended level.

Hossam Hassan's side finished with 61% possession, 15 shots and three on target to Iran's 12 and four in front of 66,925 fans. Iran had a stoppage-time winner ruled out for offside against Shojae Khalilzadeh, while seven yellow cards were shown across a tense closing fixture played amid pre-match controversy over the scheduled Pride Match branding.

Egypt finish second in Group G on five points and advance to the round of 32 to face the runners-up of Group D, Australia. Iran end the group unbeaten in three draws but miss out on the knockout stage on three points. Belgium top the section after beating New Zealand in the simultaneous Vancouver fixture.
