Algeria beat Jordan 2–1 at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium to eliminate World Cup debutants Jordan with a game to spare. Nizar Al-Rashdan swept home with the outside of his boot on 36 minutes after Mousa Al Tamari's cut-back, giving Jordan their first-ever World Cup lead, but Nadhir Benbouali headed in from Riyad Mahrez's corner on 69 minutes and Amine Gouiri prodded in from close range at another set piece on 82 minutes after a VAR check.

Ibrahim Maza was named Superior Player of the Match as Algeria finished with 72% possession, 17 shots and eight on target to Jordan's eight and four in front of 68,371 fans. Husam Abu Dahab and Ramiz Zerrouki were booked as Jamal Sellami's side pinned Jordan back throughout the second half, while the Asian side's campaign ended with two defeats from two games.

Algeria move level with Austria on three points in Group J behind Argentina, who secured top spot earlier in the day. The Desert Foxes must beat Austria in Kansas City on 27 June to reach the last 32, while Jordan's first World Cup adventure is over after scoring in both group matches.
