Netherlands beat Sweden 5–1 at Houston Stadium in FIFA World Cup 2026 Group F

The Netherlands defeated Sweden 5–1 at Houston Stadium to move top of Group F. Brian Brobbey tapped in from Cody Gakpo's low cross in the fifth minute and stabbed home Denzel Dumfries' delivery on 17 minutes, before Gakpo struck twice early in the second half — the second after Crysencio Summerville's driving run — and Summerville sealed the win in the 89th minute after Anthony Elanga had pulled one back for Sweden.

Ronald Koeman started Brobbey ahead of Summerville after the 2–2 draw with Japan, and the Sunderland striker repaid the faith with a first-half brace as the Dutch finished with 51% possession, 10 shots and seven on target in front of 68,777 fans. Sweden had Gustaf Lagerbielke's stoppage-time header ruled out for offside before Elanga lifted a consolation past Bart Verbruggen on the counter.

The Netherlands lead Group F on four points with a +4 goal difference. Sweden remain on three points after their opening 5–1 win over Tunisia and must beat Japan in Dallas on 25 June to stay in the hunt, while the Dutch close the group against Tunisia in Kansas City on the same evening.
