England beat Norway 2–1 after extra time at Miami Stadium to reach the World Cup semi-finals for the first time since 2018. Andreas Schjelderup's cross-shot off the inside of the far post gave Norway a 36th-minute lead in their first quarter-final since 1998, but Jude Bellingham drove into the box and finished low in the second minute of first-half stoppage time after Anthony Gordon's pass.
Torbjørn Heggem had a second-half goal ruled out for Erling Haaland's push on Elliot Anderson, and Kristoffer Ajer hit the crossbar before Bellingham pounced on Ørjan Nyland's spill from Morgan Rogers' long-range strike three minutes into extra time. England finished with 52% possession, 14 shots and eight on target to Norway's 13 and four; Kristoffer Ajer was booked in the 117th minute as the only card of the match.
England advance to face Argentina in Atlanta on Wednesday — a rematch of the 2022 quarter-final and a potential path to ending 60 years of hurt. Norway exit after their best World Cup run this century, with Erling Haaland held scoreless for the first time in a competitive international since October 2024.
