Kane Breaks England World Cup Record as Three Lions Top Group L

England beat Panama 2–0 at New York New Jersey Stadium to win Group L. A goalless first half gave way to Jude Bellingham's instinctive finish from Bukayo Saka's corner on 62 minutes and Harry Kane's header from Bellingham's cross five minutes later, which made Kane England's all-time leading World Cup scorer with 11 goals.

Thomas Tuchel's side finished with 67% possession, 17 shots and six on target to Panama's 13 and two in front of 80,663 fans. Jude Bellingham was named Superior Player of the Match, while José Fajardo and Andrés Andrade were booked for Panama and Jarell Quansah saw yellow for England. Panama end the tournament as the only goalless side in the group stage.

England top Group L on seven points and will face DR Congo in the round of 32 in Atlanta. Croatia finish second after beating Ghana in Philadelphia, while Ghana advance as a best third-placed team. Panama are eliminated with three defeats and no goals scored.
