Saibari Screamer Sends Morocco Top as Scotland Leave Boston Empty-Handed
Morocco defeated Scotland 1–0 at Boston Stadium to move top of Group C on four points. Ismael Saibari ran onto Brahim Díaz's pass and slammed the ball into the roof of the net after just 71 seconds — the fastest goal of the tournament so far — and the Atlas Lions held firm despite Scotland's late pressure.
Scotland finished without a shot on target as Angus Gunn denied Bilal El Khannouss and Saibari in the second half. Saibari was named Superior Player of the Match as Morocco finished with 59% possession, 12 shots and two on target in front of 64,146 fans.
Morocco are level on four points with Brazil, ahead on goal difference. Scotland remain on three points and need a result against Brazil in Miami on 24 June to have any chance of progressing, while Morocco close the group against Haiti in Atlanta on the same evening.
