Related teams:Spain, Cabo Verde
Spain and Cabo Verde drew 0–0 at Atlanta Stadium in one of the biggest shocks of the tournament so far. Despite dominating with 74% possession and 27 shots, Luis de la Fuente's European champions could not break down a resolute Cape Verde defence marshalled by 40-year-old goalkeeper Vozinha, who made seven saves on the Blue Sharks' World Cup debut.
Ferran Torres hit the bar from six yards in the first half and substitute Lamine Yamal could not find a breakthrough after coming on in the 71st minute. Sidny Lopes Cabral was booked for Cape Verde in the 16th minute and Pedri for Spain in the third minute of stoppage time as Spain finished with seven shots on target to Cabo Verde's one in front of 67,640 fans.
Both teams share a point at the top of Group H ahead of Monday's late meeting between Saudi Arabia and Uruguay. Spain face Saudi Arabia in Atlanta on 21 June, while Cabo Verde meet Uruguay in Miami on the same day.
