Ayari Brace as Sweden Thrash Tunisia in Monterrey
Sweden defeated Tunisia 5–1 at Monterrey Stadium in their Group F opener. Yasin Ayari rifled in from distance in the seventh minute, Alexander Isak made it two after a turn and pass from Viktor Gyökeres in the 30th minute, and Omar Rekik pulled one back for Tunisia with a header from Hannibal Mejbri's free-kick before half-time.
Isak turned provider after the break as Gyökeres restored Sweden's two-goal cushion in the 59th minute and substitute Mattias Svanberg swept in a fourth in the 84th minute. Ayari sealed the win with a second long-range strike in the sixth minute of stoppage time after an assist from Lucas Bergvall, sending Graham Potter's side top of the group with 49% possession, 13 shots and seven on target.
Sweden lead Group F on three points ahead of Japan and the Netherlands, who drew 2–2 earlier on Sunday. The Swedes face the Dutch in Houston on 20 June, while Tunisia meet Japan in Monterrey on 21 June.
