Mexico Sweep Group A with Historic Nine-Point Finish

Mexico beat Czechia 3–0 at Mexico City Stadium to finish Group A with a perfect nine points and eliminate Miroslav Koubek's side. Mexico finished with 48% possession, 11 shots and five on target to Czechia's 13 and one in front of 80,824 fans. Edson Álvarez was booked on 63 minutes as El Tri kept a third consecutive clean sheet in the competition.

Mexico top Group A on nine points and will face a third-placed finisher in the round of 32, with Scotland currently in that bracket. Czechia finish bottom on one point after a campaign that never recovered from two defeats in their opening games, while South Africa's simultaneous win over Korea Republic confirmed Bafana Bafana's place in the last 32.
