The 2026 World Cup will begin with a celebration at Mexico City Stadium 90 minutes before kickoff on Thursday, 11 June. FIFA has confirmed that Shakira and Burna Boy will perform "Dai Dai", the official anthem of the tournament, alongside a lineup that includes J Balvin, Maná, Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, and South African singer Tyla.
Gates at the stadium are scheduled to open four hours before the Mexico vs South Africa match, giving fans time to experience pre-match activations and entertainment. Separate opening ceremonies will follow on Friday, 12 June, in Toronto ahead of Canada's first match and in Los Angeles before the United States' home opener against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium.
The Mexico City ceremony marks the first note in a tournament designed to unite three host nations through music and sport. FIFA says fans at the stadium will have an active role in the show, and those watching at home can follow the festivities through broadcast partners including Tubi, which will simulcast the ceremonies and opening matches free of charge.
