Belgium beat New Zealand 5–1 at BC Place Vancouver to finish top of Group G and advance to the round of 32. Leandro Trossard struck before half-time and again 50 seconds into the second half, Kevin De Bruyne added a third on 66 minutes, and Elijah Just pulled one back for the All Whites before Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Saelemaekers sealed the rout in the closing stages.
Rudi Garcia's side dominated with 55% possession, 35 shots and 10 on target to New Zealand's six and two in front of 52,497 fans. Trossard was the standout in attack, while De Bruyne controlled the tempo after the break as Belgium finished the group unbeaten with five points.
Belgium top Group G on five points, two clear of Egypt in second. New Zealand finish bottom on one point after conceding 10 goals in three games. The Red Devils will face the third-placed team from Groups A, E, H, I or J in the last 32, while Egypt advance as runners-up.
